The forest is a patchwork
of pieces that don't really fit
Spritesheets, blocks and scrambled characters
mixed together in a mile wide pit

The mutilated corpse of its guardian
is slowly melting away
Claws and stinger ravaged by decay
Exoskeleton turning to clay

What remains is a melting pot
of the digital rot
and the forest it ate

It came crashing down the mountainside
ruthless like the ocean tide
and by then it was all too late

Flora and fauna have merged
into a single semiconscious entity
Cold and hard as the neighbouring rock,
boiling as the sea

Objects, pixels, sprites
caught in the algorithmic blight
Parallax scrolling crushed beyond repair,
existence peeled and bare

The forest is a patchwork
of pieces that don't really fit
And everything within reach of its rot
is slowly corrupted and absorbed by it

Eternally contained within the vale
between the dome and the mountain trail
