It's as ancient as the world itself
Twisted, bloated, blind
Hidden in its burrow
The last one of its kind

The butterfly is dead
The mountain dragon fled
Even its forest sibling perished
as the madness spread

As the eons passed
the centipede started to grow
it abandoned the world above
seeking the burrowed code deep below

Now the armored creature slumbers
in its cavernous nest
No longer concerned with any wandering
constructs from the west

Curled into a monstrous ball
deep within the desert crust
Covered by endless palette swapped tiles,
mathematics, sand and dust

Does the outside world remain?
Or was it washed away in the desert rain?
The centipede doesn't care,
forever dreaming in its lair
