The deathwaves rumble on
outside the crumbling shell
The children of the ruined dome
are mesmerized by the screeching swell

They do not belong in this place
but they ended up here all the same
when the world broke down
when the calamity came

Some are missing bits and pieces
Some are fused with random debris
All of them are bound to this place
never to be free

Damaged and irregular
from their gnarled rebirth
A chaotic meld of living tissue
and parts from the very earth

Some of them were drawn to this hive
like moths to a flame
Some of them found the dome by chance
but remained here all the same

Darkness pierced by wild cadaveric spasms
Compound eyes and glistening neoplasms

Myriapods and desert spawn
Forest hatchlings, eyes glowing like the dawn
Dragons larvae from the mountain
Mutant vermin beyond counting

Primal instincts brought them here
Hard-coded behavior, nameless fear
They are the children of the ruined dome
Stranded, broken, far from home

Together, but forever alone
