The monarch firefly
was the first to die
the glowshrooms and the lantern vines
withered soon thereafter

One by one
their lights went out
as their inner logic
began to shatter

The only way
to navigate the dark junctions
is by the pale, uncanny light
of rendering malfunctions

A labyrinth of gloom,
intertwining passages,
old centipedian tunnels
and shredded data packets

The walls are ridged
The ground is cold
The air smells of autumn rust
and ancient mold

Partially filled with water
Partially filled with sand
Right on the border between
the desert and the marshland

Deadly stalagmites
submerged in flooded caves
Shaking, crumbling
by the power of distant shockwaves

Through lightlessness
and ruptured math
it goes ever on
this sunken path
